Dhoni injury not a concern for CSK; Stokes is liable to miss three more matches.
The injury to Dhoni was disclosed by coach Stephen Fleming following the team's home match against Rajasthan Royals.
The management of Chennai Super Kings is confident that MS Dhoni will continue to play despite his injury. The franchise captain's mobility is restricted due to a knee injury. However, according to management, its longest-serving captain has not indicated that this will compel him to miss IPL 2023 games.
"He will play," CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed. "It is true that he has a knee injury, but he has not indicated otherwise." Wednesday, the franchise honored him for commanding the team for the two hundredth time.
The injury to Dhoni was disclosed by coach Stephen Fleming following the team's home match against Rajasthan Royals. "He is recovering from a knee injury, as evidenced by some of his movements. It impedes him somewhat. His fitness has always been extremely expert. A month before the tournament begins, he arrives. He is a fantastic performer. We have never had any doubts about him. He's just extraordinary," Fleming said.
Dhoni is his own man now that he has departed from international cricket, and he can continue to play for CSK despite not being 100 percent.
Meanwhile, Stokes will likely miss at least three more matches. The CSK official stated on this website that the England all-rounder and Test captain will need one additional week to return to action. Bowling is believed to have caused the injury to his left big toe.
Ben is doing well, is recovering quickly, and should be ready for the April 30 contest, according to CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan. This is a daytime match against Punjab Kings at Chepauk. "He might even be ready for the game on April 27," the CSK official added. The April 27 contest is a rematch against the Rajasthan Royals, against whom Chennai suffered a narrow defeat at Chepauk on Wednesday evening.
Stokes, who was acquired for Rs 16.25 crore, has appeared in two games and missed the same number. His scores in the two games were 7 and 8, and he has bowled only one over with little effect.
Deepak Chahar, another key player for the franchise, will take longer to rehabilitate, and according to the team's management, he may not be available until the first week of May at the earliest. "It will take him longer to return to action than Ben. He should be ready by the first week of May, we hope," Viswanathan said.
Last week at the Wankhede, Chahar, the team's leader, left the field after bowling just one over against Mumbai Indians. Both Stokes and Chahar will continue to travel with the team, accompanied by franchise support personnel.
The franchise will also be without Sisanda Magala, who was unable to complete his allotted overs against Rajasthan Royals. According to CSK management, it will take the South African at least a week to be fit for game action.
CSK have two wins and two losses thus far in the IPL 2023, and their next away encounter is on April 17 against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
