Warner Provides Update On Bat Theft Incident
During the journey from Bengaluru to Delhi, equipment belonging tothe team's members went missing.
After traveling from Bengaluru to Delhi, the Delhi Capitals recently discovered that a significant portion of their players' uniforms were missing. According to a report in The Indian Express, the items were lost during the players' journey from Bengaluru to Delhi, and the players learned of the incident when their uniform bags were delivered to their rooms. The majority of the taken items were bats; David Warner, Phil Salt, and Mitchell Marsh each lost three.
Warner revealed in an Instagram story that the perpetrators have been identified and the bats have been recovered. The Australian opener posted a photo of a number of bats on the floor along with helmets, batting gloves, and protectors to his Instagram story. "They identified the perpetrators," wrote Warner in the narrative. "Few items are still missing, but thank you."
DC ultimately recorded their first victory of the season immediately following the robbery, with Warner himself seemingly regaining form. Warner entered the home match against Kolkata Knight Riders with three fifty-plus scores in his previous five games, but the Australian's innings lacked his signature aggression.
Warner scored fifty off 33 balls against Kolkata in a low-scoring match, and his 57 runs set up Delhi's first win of the season by four wickets. With Warner in the middle, it appeared as though DC would easily chase down the target of 127 after a strong bowling performance headed by veteran Ishant Sharma limited Kolkata Knight Riders to 127.
However, his and Manish Pandey's dismissals derailed DC's pursuit. Due to the frequent dismissal of batsmen, DC struggled in the middle overs, as they failed to score a single boundary after the 16th over. This brought the match to its final over. In the final over, DC required seven runs. With four victims and the assistance of one no-ball, DC chased down the total in 19.2 overs.
