Nominees for the annual CSA Awards for the season 2022-23 announced

The nominees for the 2022-23 CSA Awards have been announced by Cricket South Africa (CSA). Notable nominees include superstar cricketers Temba Bavuma, Aiden Markram, and Marizanne Kapp, among others, in various categories of the awards.

The CSA awards ceremony will take place on July 7 at the Vodaworld in Midrand, marking the resumption of a live awards ceremony for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic. The awards are held to recognize and incorporate the significant moments of the 2022-23 season, with the theme 'A Summer to Celebrate'.

Notably, the Proteas ODI and Test captain, Temba Bavuma, is nominated in four different categories, including SA Men's Player of the Year, ODI Player of the Year, and Test Player of the Year. Anrich Nortje earned tenth place in the ICC T20I bowling rankings after a strong season with the ball, which earned him a spot in four categories.

Aiden Markram, the T20Is captain, is in competition with David Miller for the South Africa Men's Player of the Year award. Miller, 34, is also contending for the ODI Player of the Year award after a successful white-ball season in 2022-23. Tony de Zorzi, Gerald Coetzee, and Tristan Stubbs have been nominated for the International Men's Newcomer of the Year award in the youth category.

Shabnim Ismail and Marianne Kapp shine in the women's divisions.

Shabnim Ismail was instrumental in South Africa's successful World Cup campaign, which propelled them to the final of the 2023 T20 Women's World Cup. Shabnim was the fifth-highest wicket-taker in South Africa's premier contest, with eight victims.

The pacer announced her retirement in May 2023, but she will continue to participate in domestic T20 leagues around the world. She has been nominated in four categories, whereas Kapp has been nominated for Women's T20 International Player of the Year and Women's ODI International Player of the Year.

Ashwell Prince (former cricketer), Crystal Arnold (SuperSport presenter and producer), Patrick Moroney (CSA Selector), cricket correspondents Firdose Moonda and Khandiso Tshwaku, and CSA statistician Andrew Samson comprise the awards' judging panel.
