"Klaas-ic Display": Sachin Tendulkar Amire SRH Star After Maiden IPL Ton
Heinrich Klaasen displayed his big-hitting prowess on way to his maiden IPL hundred against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Heinrich Klaasen displayed his big-hitting prowess en route to his maiden IPL century as Sunrisers Hyderabad recovered from a poor start to post 186 for five against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Thursday in a crucial match in Hyderabad.
During his scintillating 51-ball knock, the wicketkeeper-batsman had six smashes over the boundary and eight across it. He formed a 76-run partnership with Aiden Markram (18) and then added another 74 runs off 36 deliveries with Harry Brook (not out) to propel SRH to a respectable total.
Even Sachin Tendulkar was awestruck by Klaasen's hit."The IPL features both creative and conventional batting. Today was a Klaas-like display of conventional batting. Klaasen's technique has been among the simplest and most straightforward I've witnessed in recent memory. Treat to observe! #SRHvRCB #IPL2023," tweeted Sachin Tendulkar.
Faf du Plessis, captain of the RCB, urged SRH to bat first, despite the fact that the team was eliminated from playoff contention. As has been the case throughout the season, Rahul Tripathi (15) and Abhishek Sharma (11) squandered decent beginnings, leaving Sunrisers at 28 for 2 after five overs.
Before the openers milked Wayne Parnell for 16 runs, SRH struck 11 runs in three overs. However, off-spinner Michael Bracewell struck twice in his first three deliveries, removing both openers. While Abhishek hit directly to Lomror at cover, Tripathi's slog paddle stroke found the fine leg fielder.
In the powerplay, Klaasen smashed three fours off of Shahbaz Ahmed to propel the Sunrisers to 49 for 2.Klassen rocked back and tugged every time the ball was short as Bracewell and Harshal Patel sent the ball over the ropes and Karn Sharma dispatched a 74-yard six.
Karn Sharma was then ejected from the field by Klaasen for bowling outside the circle. The South African reached fifty in twenty-four balls. While Klaasen was in top form, Markram managed only 18 runs per over before his off stump was pinned back by Shahbaz as he attempted a reverse smash.

Brook then collected a four and six off Karn Sharma, who conceded 21 runs, with Klaasen also hoisting him over cover. The decision by Du Plessis to have Shahbaz bowl the 17th over backfired when Klaasen hit the first two deliveries over the bowler's head and Brook sent one fine.
Klaasen brought up his century by smashing Harshal over his head as Parnell bowled yorkers to restrict the opposition to just seven runs in the following over. He was dismissed one ball later while attempting another powerful stroke.
In the final over, Mohammed Siraj allowed only four runs and claimed a wicket.
