IPL 2024 auction to be held on December 19 in Dubai. All you need to know
The auction for IPL 2024 season will be held in Dubai on December 19 with the franchises having time up to November 26 to announce retentions.
Dubai will host the Indian Premier League player auction for the IPL 2024 season on December 19. Franchises are granted until November 26 to make any announcements regarding retained players.
Significantly, this auction will be conducted in a foreign country for the very first time; each franchise has been allocated a purse of INR 100 crore (approximately USD 12.02 million) in order to assemble their squads for the upcoming season. The purse for this edition has been enhanced by 5 crore INR from its previous value of 95 crore INR.
On the day of the auction, each team's purse will be revised to reflect the value of the players they have released and any unutilized purse from the 2023 edition. At present, the Punjab Kings hold the most funds with INR 12.20 crore (USD 1.47 million), whereas the Mumbai Indians, who have won the competition five times, have the tiniest with INR 0.05 crore (USD 0.006 million).
In addition to the aforementioned, the Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals each possess INR 4.45 crore (USD 0.54 million), while the Lucknow Super Giants have INR 3.55 crore (USD 0.43 million).
In addition, the Rajasthan Royals have USD 3.35 crore (USD 0.40 million), while the Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders each have INR 1.75 crore (USD 0.21 million), INR 1.65 crore (USD 0.2 million), and INR 1.5 crore (USD 0.18 million), respectively, for the defending champions Chennai Super Kings.
