Viacom18 has acquired exclusive digital rights for the India Tour of Ireland 2023 in order to livestream the three-match T20I series on JioCinema. The tour will also be broadcast live on Sports18 – 1, Sports18 – 1 HD, and Sports18 Khel. The Jasprit Bumrah-led Indian team will play three T20 Internationals at Malahide Cricket Club in Dublin on August 18, 20, and 23.
JioCinema surpassed TV as a platform for engagement, viewership, and concurrency during the ongoing India tour of West Indies 2023. The two-Test series had a peak concurrent audience of over 2.2 million on JioCinema, which was significantly higher than the India-Australia World Test Championship final. On JioCinema, over seven crore viewers have witnessed the action from the all-format Caribbean tour.
"In response to the escalating number of viewers who value the ease of access and personalization to observe their favourite sports, we are constructing a robust multi-sport offering. Hursh Shrivastava, the Head of Strategy, Partnerships, and Acquisitions for Viacom18 Sports, remarked that the India tour of Ireland exemplifies the company's efforts in the same direction.
It signals the return of India's bowling spearhead Jasprit Bumrah and showcases the next generation of Indian cricket talent, he added.
JioCinema will present the series in multiple languages, including popular ones like Punjabi and Bhojpuri, to enhance the live-viewing experience. On August 18, India will play Ireland in the first T20 International, with coverage beginning at 7:15 PM on JioCinema, Sports18 – 1, Sports18 – 1 HD, and Sports18 Khel.
