'There were a few words': Phil Salt after verbal argument with Siraj
Phil Salt has opened up about his verbal spat with Mohammed Siraj after DC's win over RCB in the IPL 2023.
Saturday's match between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at home was marred by a heated exchange between England batsman Phil Salt and India fast bowler Mohammed Siraj. During DC's innings at the Arun Jaitely Stadium, Indian pacer Siraj and England's Salt were involved in an acrimonious exchange. Before the conclusion of the opening powerplay, Siraj hurled a mouthful at Salt.
In addition, the RCB pacer engaged in a heated dispute with DC opener David Warner, who attempted to calm down the animated Bangalore pacer. Despite the tragic incident during the power play, Salt remained committed to leading DC to a dominant home victory. In match No. 50 of the IPL 2023, the Englishman played a magnificent innings to help Delhi Capitals defeat Virat Kohli's Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Reflecting on his match-winning performance against the RCB side led by Siraj, the England opener also discussed his verbal altercation with the Indian fast bowler."I am extremely pleased with the impact. Clearly, there was a sliver of a needle. When we were in Bangalore, their lads were preparing for the last game. Consequently, much of the pre-game discussion centered on taking the game to them, which I believe we did quite well. There were a few words and a bit of needle, but the majority of the players, including myself, were up for the challenge," Salt told reporters during the post-game press conference.

In his entertaining innings of 87 off 45 balls, Salt hit eight fours and six sixes. At the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Warner's DC team recorded a memorable 7-wicket victory over RCB thanks to his top-scoring performance. Salt was also crowned Player of the Match for his IPL 2023 batting exploits against Bangalore. "It was. I believe that it conveys a message of calmness back to the dugout if you take on the opposing team's best bowler and win, regardless of whether it's the first over or any other over he bowls."When this occurs and it is accomplished successfully, you see men emerge as Mitchell Marsh did. His second hit was a home run. Rilee Rossouw comes out to bat as if he has already confronted 30 balls. There is a method to it," Salt added.
