Rishabh Pant has begun keeping and batting in nets: BCCI
The medical team is happy with their progress as well and will be increasing their intensity in terms of both skills and strength.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released an update on five injured players undergoing rehabilitation on Friday, July 21. These players are Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, and Rishabh Pant, respectively.
Bumrah and Krishna have reached the final phases of their rehabilitation and are bowling with full intensity in the nets. Following their participation in the practise games organised by the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, the BCCI medical staff will make a final determination regarding their participation.
According to a statement, wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant, who was involved in a near-fatal vehicle accident on 30 December 2022, has made significant progress. The 25-year-old has begun batting and keeping in the nets and is following a strength, flexibility, and running-based fitness programme designed for him. In the meantime, star batsmen KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer have begun batting in the nets and are undergoing strength and conditioning exercises.
The medical staff is also pleased with their progress and will increase the intensity of their skills and strength and conditioning training in the coming days. With the ODI World Cup 2023 scheduled to begin in India on October 5, Team India hopes that all of their players will return to the pitch as soon as feasible. According to reports, Bumrah will likely make his return to the team during the August T20I series against Ireland.
Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul have also commenced net practise.
In addition, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul will be crucial for India in the World Cup. Consequently, their services will be required within the middle hierarchy. According to the BCCI, a significant portion of their rehabilitation has already been completed.

Iyer has been sidelined since March 2023, whereas Rahul has been sidelined since May 2023. In a positive development, Pant is unlikely to return to the team this year. Pant has been sorely missed. In his absence, India would require other players to stand up and assume the role of wicketkeeper during the World Cup.
