ODI World Cup 2023: Glenn Maxwell ruled out of ENG vs AUS match
Glenn Maxwell will not be able to participate in the match against England due to an unfortunate incident involving a golf cart.
Due to an unfortunate incidence involving a golf cart, Glenn Maxwell, the star Australian all-rounder who has been in outstanding form during the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, will be unable to participate in the match against England.
A concussion ensued from his descent and subsequent sliding from the rear of the cart. However, he is demonstrating evidence of recovery and is presently making excellent progress. The Australian team's next match against the defending champions, England, is scheduled to take place at the renowned Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on November 4.
This occurrence transpired during a break at the Kalhaar Blues and Greens Golf Club in Ahmedabad, where the individual was engaged in a round of golf. When Maxwell stumbled and fell while standing on the rear of a moving golf cart, he sustained a concussion and facial bruising.
"In transporting him back from the clubhouse to the team bus, Glenn Maxwell came off the back of a cart and has suffered a small concussion, so he will go into concussion protocols for the next period of time and will, unfortunately, miss the England game," McDonald was reported to have said by cricket.com.au.
"The men were transported away in carts." Glenn, along with several other players, ascended onto the rear of trolleys; regrettably, while returning to the team bus, he lost his footing and sustained the injury. It was an unequivocal accident... "He is a vital member of our team; hopefully he misses only one game." he added.
He'll go into six to eight days concussion protocol: Andrew McDonald
C racque Due to his concussion, he is obligated to miss the forthcoming ODI World Cup 2023 match against England. However, there is optimism that he will recover in time to play for Australia after the England match concludes. No successor has been designated for him in the squad as of yet.
"As such, there will be no replacement (on the squad); he will enter a concussion protocol for six to eight days." "Based on his current condition, we believe that the return to play protocol will be relatively uncomplicated," McDonald explained.
Before the semi-finals, it is anticipated that he will return for Australia's match against Afghanistan. It is most probable that Marcus Stoinis will replace Maxwell, and Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne are also anticipated to assume more significant roles. Australia maintains a positive outlook regarding their accomplishment in the tournament notwithstanding this setback.
"We are considering Travis to reduce the game's tempo (with the ball), and we also have Marnus who can assist with spinning. Labuschagne, on the other hand, has been honing his off-spin in addition to his leg-spin. "We are confident that we have sufficient options to slow down the game if the surface conditions so require," McDonald concluded.
It is noteworthy that this incident was not the initial occurrence of a golf-related error affecting the Australian cricket team. Josh Inglis, the wicketkeeper, also sustained a grievous hand injury while playing golf last year. In the interim, Glenn Maxwell maintains a positive attitude and is anticipated to persist in his training regimen while adhering to the requisite recovery protocols.
