'Not thinking about India selection'- Prithvi Shaw after double century

Prithvi Shaw broke records with his historic innings of 244 off 153 deliveries against Somerset in the Royal London One-Day Cup. With the help of 28 fours and 11 sixes, Indian cricketer entertained the crowd en route to scoring the highest-ever List A score by a Northamptonshire player. The Steelbacks defeated Somerset by 87 runs after posting 415/8 in their allotted 50 overs, thanks to Prithvi's exceptional innings.

The 23-year-old, who last played for India in July 2021, stated that he is focused on enjoying his time in England and gaining from the experience rather than contemplating his return to the Indian team.

"Experience is an absolute must. I'm not sure what the Indian selectors are thinking, but I just want to have a nice time here with the players and support staff, and I'm not really concerned with what the Indian selectors are thinking. Northamptonshire has provided me with this opportunity... they truly care for me. India Today cited the Mumbai batter as saying, "I'm really enjoying it."

"The sun was shining and the weather resembled that of India, so things were looking fine. When an inside edge fails to get me out, you know that this day is mine. Occasionally, luck is required, so I believe that today was my fortunate day. "After that, I never looked back," he added.

With the historic innings, Prithvi reached to the top of the leaderboard for most runs scored in the current season. He has scored 304 runs in three games, averaging 101.33 with a strike rate of 148.8.

I am the type of player who puts the team first: Prithvi Shaw

In February 2021, the diminutive batter scored 227 runs off 152 deliveries in the Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Puducherry. This was Prithvi's highest score until Somerset, when he surpassed it. While batting, the captain of the team that won the Under-19 World Cup confessed that he had his previous highest List A score of 227 in mind. Prithvi credited the team's overall performance and provided insight into the altruistic qualities he possesses.

"The 227 was on my mind honestly. When Whitey [Whiteman] was present, I told him that my maximum score was 227. However, it was a team effort that was excellent overall. I always strive to win for the team, and I am the type of player who places the team before myself. Prithvi concluded, "If scoring like this helps my team win, then I should continue doing so."
