Jay Shah Speaks Over Harmanpreet Kaur Incident

Harmanpreet Kaur was banned for two matches and the right-handed batter will now miss the first two games of the Asian Games.

Jay Shah Speaks Over Harmanpreet Kaur Incident

Harmanpreet Kaur, captain of the Indian women's cricket team, has been criticised by former cricketers and administrators for her conduct in the third ODI against Bangladesh. After being dismissed by the umpire, Kaur struck the stumps, and the game and series ended in a tie.

She continued her tirade and ridiculed the umpires during the post-match presentation. In light of this, the International Cricket Council (ICC) suspended the Indian captain for two matches.

Jay Shah, the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, has stated that BCCI president Roger Binny and National Cricket Academy (NCA) director VVS Laxman will discuss this matter with Kaur. Interestingly, the Indian Cricket Board did not appeal the ICC's two-match suspension. In addition to the suspension, Kaur had 50% of her match fee deducted and three demerit points added to her record.

"Our President Roger Binny and VVS Laxman will speak with her about her outburst." The ICC has already suspended her, and the deadline to file an appeal has passed," Shah told reporters following the BCCI's meeting with state associations for the ODI World Cup 2023.

The ban will cause Harmanpreet Kaur to miss the first two Asian games

However, Kaur was suspended, and this decision has undoubtedly harmed the Indian team more, as the right-handed batsman will now miss the first two Asian Games matches. Women's cricket will be featured at the Asian Games 2022, which will take place in China on September 19, 2023.

Speaking of the ODI series, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led team lost the first game but made a series recovery by winning the second game. The third match was a must-win for both teams. Team India was attempting to reach the objective of 226 runs, but Bangladesh's bowler bowled superbly and bowled them out for 225 runs.

The controversy surrounding Harmanpreet's LBW decision erupted in the 34th over, when the visitors had scored 160 runs, when she was given out. Due to the lack of DRS in the series, the Indian captain was unable to review the decision when Kaur claimed to have gotten the bottom edge. Prior to this series, the Indian team's record and statistics against Bangladesh had been outstanding, but this series was forgettable. Both teams eventually divided the trophy.
