Indian squad for ODI World Cup nearly finalised

Recent reports indicated that the senior national team committee of the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) finalized the 15-man squad for team India ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023.

The chairman of the Indian World Cup squad selection committee, Ajit Agarkar, flew to Sri Lanka to meet with head coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma. According to reports, renowned batter Sanju Samson was unable to secure a spot on the team, while KL Rahul remained one of the top choices.

In addition, the selection committee extensively discussed KL Rahul's fitness issues. After the medical team gave the all-star batter the go-ahead regarding his fitness, he was included in the squad for the marquee event. In addition, it is anticipated that KL Rahul will shortly fly to Sri Lanka to join team India for the 2023 Asia Cup.

The deadline for the submission of squads for the ODI World Cup 2023 is September 5, but with almost every player available, the BCCI did not want to wait. Ajit Agarkar has recently hinted that India's World Cup squad will be selected from the pool of players that traveled to Sri Lanka for the Asia Cup 2023, and the rumored squad appears to follow this pattern.
