How Sourav Ganguly and Irfan Pathan Reacted On Arjun Tendulkar Debut
Arjun bowled only two overs against KKR, conceding 17 runs.
After a lengthy delay, Mumbai Indians' all-rounder Arjun Tendulkar made his IPL 2023 debut in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders. The 23-year-old performed admirably with the ball, allowing just 17 runs in two overs. As a result of Arjun's movements with the ball, KKR's opener Narayan Jagadeesan appeared to be in difficulty with the new ball. In the absence of Jofra Archer, he was tasked with delivering with the new ball, and it was safe to assume that the team management would be satisfied with his performance.
On the other hand, numerous former cricketers, including Sourav Ganguly and Irfan Pathan, have sent congratulations to Arjun Tendulkar via Twitter. Notably, this is the first time that a father and son have played in the IPL, and with Duan Jansen's début, the match also made history as the first time that twins (Duan and Marco Jansen) have played in the IPL.
Ganguly mentioned on his Twitter account that Sachin Tendulkar must be very proud of his son, while former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan congratulated Arjun on his debut and termed it a historic day.
"I am overjoyed to see Arjun perform for Mumbai. Ganguly stated, "The champion's father must be so proud... I wish Sachin Tendulkar the best of luck."
Notably, Arjun transferred his allegiance from Mumbai to Goa prior to the domestic season and was reasonably successful for his new team. Yograj Singh, a renowned taskmaster who also mentored Yuvraj Singh in his early years, was his coach.
Overall, the prospective all-rounder has participated in nine T20 matches, taken 12 wickets, and scored 20 runs in five innings. However, Mumbai did not utilize him much against KKR despite other bowlers conceding runs, which was a puzzling decision by Mumbai's stand-in captain Suryakumar Yadav.
