Ali Khan banned for two matches
Ali Khan from the United States has been banned for two matches - ODIs or T20Is, whichever comes first.
As a result of a Level 1 ICC Code of Conduct violation, fast bowler Ali Khan has been suspended for the United States' subsequent two matches. His one demerit point for it resulted in a total of four demerit points accruing over the course of 24 months, which led to an automatic suspension.
Khan committed the offense on Tuesday in Windhoek during the USA's World Cup Qualifying Play-off match against Jersey.
The ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel prohibits using "language, actions, or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an International Match," which is what Khan was found to have done. He received a 15% match fee fine. He had already been docked three demerit points for two different offenses that occurred during a T20I match against Bermuda.
Jasdeep Singh from his squad and Elliot Miles from Jersey were both fined for a Level 1 violation. In accordance with Article 2.12 of the Code, which addresses "inappropriate physical contact with a Player, Player Support Personnel, Umpire, Match Referee or any other person (including a spectator) during an International Match," Singh received two demerit points and lost 30% of his match money.
In addition to receiving a 15% match fee charge, Miles also lost one demerit point for using an audible obscenity.
No official hearings were necessary because all three players accepted responsibility for their actions and the associated penalties.
