Rohit Sharma breaks record of Chris Gayle for most sixes in international cricket
Rohit surpassed Chris Gayle’s tally of 553 international sixes and rose to the top of the list.
During Match 9 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 against Afghanistan on Wednesday, October 11 at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, India captain Rohit Sharma set a new record. The first batter entered the attack in fifth gear and immediately entered beast mode against the Afghan bowlers.
In 19 innings, Rohit became the co-fastest batsman to score one thousand runs in the history of the ODI World Cup. Prior to him, Australian opener David Warner accomplished a similar feat against India in their match. He added to the record books by amassing the most sixes in the history of international cricket by executing a maximum off Naveen ul Haq over deep square leg. Rohit ascended to the summit of the list of all-time international sixes by surpassing Chris Gayle's 553.
