Bangladesh women's squad for T20I series against India
Bangladesh cricket has announced its squad for three T20I series against India Women and have done some major changes.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board has announced a squad with notable alterations for the upcoming three-match T20I series against India Women. Jahanara Alam and Fargana Hoque, along with all-rounder Lata Mondal and left-arm pacer Fariha Trisna, have been omitted. In addition, left-handed batter Rubya Haider will miss time with a knee injury.
Jahanara Alam, Bangladesh's second-highest scorer in T20 Internationals, will be missed as Bangladesh strives to perform well against India. However, the squad has experienced all-rounder Salma Khatun and batters Dilara Akter, Shathi Rani, and 16-year-old Shorna Akter. Nigar Sultana will lead the batting order, while Shathi Rani, who has displayed remarkable form during the domestic season, may open in one of the matches.
Bangladesh's bowling attack will significantly rely on their spinners, as Salma Khatun, Fahima Khatun, Nahida Akter, Ritu Mondol, Sanjida Akter, and Sultana Khatun are all members of the squad. With only Marufa Akter and the uncapped Disha Biswas as pace bowlers, Bangladesh's spinners will play a pivotal role in the series.
The three-match T20I series will begin on July 9 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka, followed by matches on July 11 and July 13. The teams will then compete in a three-match ODI series beginning on July 16; the second and third games are scheduled for July 19 and July 22, respectively.
Bangladesh women's team and India women's team have competed in 13 T20 matches to date. Eleven of these thirteen matches have been won by the Indian women, while the Bangladesh women have won two. This record indicates that the impending series will present Bangladesh women's team with a formidable challenge.
Utilizing the assets of their revamped squad, the Bangladesh Women's team will attempt to mount a strong challenge against the formidable Indian side. The absence of critical players such as Jahanara Alam and Fargana Hoque will undoubtedly be felt, but the addition of experienced and promising players provides Bangladesh with an opportunity to demonstrate their depth and potential.
