Arjun Tendulkar makes much-awaited IPL debut for MI

Arjun Tendulkar makes IPL debut: The lengthy wait for Arjun Tendulkar is finally over, as the son of legendary India batsman Sachin Tendulkar is set to make his IPL debut on Sunday against Kolkata Knight Riders. The father and son duo will become the first father-son duo to participate in the IPL, with both having played for Mumbai Indians. In 2013, Sachin last appeared in the division.

Before the 2021 season, the Mumbai Indians acquired Arjun in an auction for a base price of INR 20 lakhs. A year later, in the mega auction for the 2022 season, Arjun attracted two suitors, including Gujarat Titans, before he was sold back to Mumbai Indians for INR 30 lakhs. However, despite being a member of the squad for multiple seasons, he did not receive his first uniform until Sunday, April 16, 2023.

Prior to the toss, Arjun was overheard conversing intently with his father Sachin, who has had a lengthy association with the franchise, first as a player and now as a mentor. Later, regular captain Rohit Sharma, who was not included in the starting XI for the match against KKR due to a "stomach bug," as explained by stand-in captain Surya Kumar Yadav, joined the conversation with Sachin, with the two attempting to motivate the 23-year-old prior to his Wankhede Stadium debut. Sara, sister of Arjun, was also visible in the stands.
