'That is the biggest load of rubbish I have ever seen' - McGrath's over Starc catch controversy

Apparently, the Australian pacer was not in control of his movement as he grassed the ball while sliding on the ground.

'That is the biggest load of rubbish I have ever seen' - McGrath's over Starc catch controversy

The current Ashes match at Lord's is living up to its reputation as the hosts are engaged in another thrilling contest. Ben Duckett's non-dismissal in the late stages of the fourth day has dominated the news, despite the fact that a sold-out audience witnessed the drama unfold on the field. Glenn McGrath, a former Australian cricketer, gave his unfiltered opinion on the controversy.

On the fourth day, Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc took two wickets apiece to make quick work of the English top order, extending England's batting difficulties. Ben Duckett's half-century has allowed the host team to remain competitive despite losing four wickets. However, according to Glenn McGrath, the English opener should have been back in the pavilion.

Starc nabbed Duckett off the boundary after he mistimed a pull shot. While the English opener was returning to the pavilion, the third umpire reversed the decision made on the field. As he grassed the ball while tumbling on the ground, it appears the Australian fast bowler was not in control of his body. Following the controversy, an enraged Glenn McGrath issued a direct statement to express his feelings.

"I'm sorry, but that is the largest pile of garbage I have ever encountered. The object is under his control. This projectile is controlled. I'm apologetic, but I've experienced every aspect of this game. If this is not out, then every other capture ever made should also be ruled out.

That is shameful. I've now seen everything. I simply cannot comprehend it. If the object is not under control, the situation is absurd. This is under his control with both palms. McGrath stated on BBC's Test Match Special, "I've seen everything now."

If England has taken that catch, it is out: McGrath

In the penultimate over of the day, Mitchell Starc was observed lashing out at the English opener in response to the controversial decision. Glenn McGrath made a controversial claim, claiming that the outcome would have been different if an English player had caught that ball.

"That is out if England has taken that capture. That is ludicrous. I simply cannot comprehend it. This is a standard capture. When bowling, I am unhappy. The ground did not aid him in collecting the ball. He is attacking Duckett. I would attack everyone if I were Mitchell Starc. This implies that Mitchell Starc is deceiving. And he did not deceive; he caught it without difficulty. He added, "If you catch it in your hand, you have control."
