In a highly anticipated ODI series, the Ireland Women will take on the reigning world champions, Australia, in their own territory. The series will commence on July 23 and conclude in Dublin on July 28. In a similar fashion, Ireland Cricket has announced a 14-player Women's squad, which features notable additions.
One of these additions is Jane Maguire, who has returned to the team after rehabilitating from an injury. Jane's younger sister Aimee has also been named to the same squad, marking the first time that the sisters will compete at this level together.
Amy Hunter, the Irish wicketkeeper-batsman, conveyed her enthusiasm for the upcoming series and its challenges. Reflecting on the team's recent Caribbean tour, she acknowledged the team's moments of promise but emphasised the importance of delivering complete performances to compete with the top teams.
Hunter also emphasised the importance of the series against Australia, as it is their only home contest this summer. Regarding her own batting performance, Hunter acknowledged areas for improvement.
"As for my own game, there are a number of areas that I'm working on with the coaches regarding technique and gaining a greater understanding of game situations. Hunter was quoted by Cricworld as saying, "I'm just looking forward to the opportunity to compete against the best in the world over the next 10 days."
